During NYFA’s Associate of Fine Arts (AFA) in Filmmaking at NYFA Los Angeles, students develop their voice as storytellers and shape their future in film, television, and entertainment. Following NYFA’s signature approach, students learn-by-doing through a strict regimen of lectures, seminars, and total immersion workshops.
Throughout the program, students build skills in directing, cinematography, editing, writing, and producing, creating a variety of short films and original video content. The AFA in film program at NYFA is an excellent fit for individuals who want to pursue their interests in film, entertainment, and media.
NYFA’s Associate of Fine Arts Degree (AFA) program takes place over the course of two years and six-semesters.
Over the course of NYFA’s AFA program, students write, shoot, direct, and edit eleven of their own films. In addition, students hold various creative and technical positions such as cinematographer, gaffer, and/or assistant camera on for more than 40 of their classmates’ films.
NYFA AFA students study filmmaking at NYFA Los Angeles, the West Coast’s hub for media, entertainment, television, and film. In Burbank, where NYFA Los Angeles is located, AFA students are next to Universal and Warner Brother studios, which often use to shoot and direct their films.
