LEARN HOW TO BECOME A PRODUCER AT NYFA

During the Associate of Fine Arts (AFA) Degree in Producing in Los Angeles, students develop the practical and creative skills necessary used to make a pitch or treatment, analyze and write a script, source talent, create and manage a production budget and a schedule. Under the guidance and mentorship of our experienced faculty of producers, students complete a variety of projects that train them in core elements of Producing and creative project management.


 

Curriculum

The curriculum of the AFA Producing program includes:

  • A curriculum that focuses strongly on the fundamentals of producing in classes such as Producer’s Craft, Directing for Producers, Cinematography & Lighting, and Elements of Screenwriting
  • Instruction and critique by experienced faculty and staff who currently work in the field
  • Ongoing experience on student film sets as a producer and in various creative and technical positions for classmates’ films
  • Opportunity to borrow video, sound, and lighting equipment
  • Guest lectures from leading Producers currently working in film, media, and entertainment
Degree Deatils

NYFA’s AFA in Producing is an accelerated program that takes place over the course of five semesters in two years.

AFA students complete a range of projects, such as a Finance and Budgeting Plan, a Marketing and Distribution Plan, a TV Show Bible, Web Series Projects, Unscripted Television Projects, as well as a completed and well-executed Thesis Project.

Locations

The AFA in Producing program is exclusively available at NYFA Los Angeles. Located in Burbank, NYFA’s Producing School is near Universal and Warner Brother studios, where students often participate in production workshops. Students also have access to film resources such as NYFA’s expansive equipment storage holding.
